Class Gets First-Hand Look at Landscapes in the Making
pool outdoor kitchenALLENDALE, N.J., Oct. 23, 2008 – Borst Landscape & Design recently hosted a field trip for a class in Bergen Community College’s (BCC) Horticulture Program. The class, “Landscape Site and Plan Analysis,” is taught by the company’s president and founder, Mark Borst, who is also an Adjunct Instructor at BCC located in Paramus.

“I wanted the students to see first-hand the kinds of sites that landscape contractors have to deal with, the problems they encounter, and the ways in which we can overcome certain challenges using appropriate materials, drainage and design,” Borst explained.

He began the field trip at Borst’s offices in Allendale where the students reviewed plans, site proposals and photos of two selected properties. He then took the class to the properties, one in Ho Ho Kus involving the building of a fieldstone wall/patio, and the other in Wyckoff, where a new pool area and outdoor kitchen are under construction.

Our environment is in their hands.”
