Landscape Mechanic
As the premier landscape design company in Bergen County and northern New Jersey we produce outstanding work for each and every client. The key responsibility of this position will be repair small engines and landscape equipment. Equipment can include but not limited to mowers, weed whackers and blowers etc. You will have the opportunity to work on different types of machinery and trucks. This is a hands-on position in the landscape lawn care industry. Project types include small engines and small and large equipment used for landscapes.
Your responsibilities could include…
- The ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, gasoline and diesel problems.
- Propose and complete cost-effective repairs
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all equipment
- Follow through to make sure repairs and work orders are complete

Landscape Construction Yard Manager
Borst Landscape & Design is a nationally recognized, award-winning, full-service landscaping company in Bergen County, New Jersey. Due to our rapid growth, we are looking to add to our team! The key responsibility of this position will be to fully manage and organize landscape yard. This skilled individual must be able to fully operate heavy equipment such as forklift, skid steer, bobcat and excavator as this equipment will be utilized to complete job functions. This is a hands-on position in the landscape industry will you will independently organize, maintain, and clean, equipment and yard.
Your responsibilities could include:
- Maintain, clean, organize, and details heavy equipment. Equipment will include construction equipment and various pieces of machinery ie. Excavators, skid steers, loaders etc.
- Separate debris and load dumpsters
- Maintain a neat and orderly yard oriented toward maximizing efficiency
- Operates a standard forklift, handling cart and related equipment and tools to move materials
- Operates pressure washer in all weather conditions
- Performs visual inspections of equipment and report to onsite mechanic
- Cleans lot and run off pit as well as empties trash
- Conducts minor repairs and adjustments on equipment as needed
- Occasional facility duties may include sweeping and property maintenance

Garden Maintenance Operations Support Manager

Are you hardworking and self-motivated? Then, joining our team as a Garden Maintenance Production Manager is the career for you!
The key responsibility of this position will be to manage and supervise 5 (3 person crews) on multiple projects from start to finish. The Production Manager will be responsible for managing staff, adhering to schedules, and budgets in order to complete plant installations on time and within budget. This is a hands-on management position requiring excellent customer service, organizational skills, and a fundamental understanding of the landscape plant industry.
Your responsibilities could include…
- Must be able to delegate, manage, and participate in all job functions including but not limited to; flower and plant installation (being able to identity different flower and plant species is a must), mulching, pruning shrubs and small ornamental trees, weeding, and debris removal.
- Oversee the scheduling and overall completion of projects including the coordination of all materials, staff, and equipment, required to produce a quality job and to maximize efficiency and gauge progress.
- Must possess the ability to think forward, make decisions as well as identifying and solving problems, while supervising a team of 10-15.
- Load and run materials (topsoil, mulch, plants, etc.) organize nursery stock and help crews unload and organize daily.
- Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision in a rapidly changing environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Communicate with client about work orders and job details, assuring that our customers receive an exceptional Borst experience and upselling when needed.
- Patch up open jobs and remediate mistakes or replacements on the fly when needed.
*** This position is labor intensive and requires some heavy lifting up to 80lbs unassisted. Tools that are used for this process may include but are not limited to: Skid steer, forklift, bobcat, shovel, and various hand tools. The ability to learn and apply proper practices by following safe work practices, standard operating procedures and best lifting practices are crucial to success.
